That's the call that went out to my soul for this past weekend. I was ready to bust a move, cut a rug, shake it like a polaroid picture. Whatever cute little phrases you can come up with...I was ready for it all. Friday night were salsa lessons at a restaurant downtown. It was $3 or $2 if you came dressed like the 70's. Cause everyone knows Salsa and the 70's go together, right? Well, we were excited. I knew just what to wear; the dress my mom wore on her first date with my dad. No lie. It is right out of the 70's and very brightly colored. My friend, Matt didn't have anything to wear so at the last minute we asked my dad to go into his closet and see if he could find anything. And oh, he pulled out a jewel. In case you don't know, my dad never throws anything away. In this case, it was a good thing. Setnick fro'd his hair out and this is how we turned out:
Quite a group
So off we went. We got there about 20 minutes late, I peeked in the window and what did I see? A group of young people dressed for the year '08 (well, maybe not everyone. There are always some people who can't let go of the early 90's). Lame. But we didn't care. We went in, salsa'd our hearts out, and Matt even won the prize for the best dressed (Thanks Dad). Granted it was basically him against me and one other girl who just had on a flowy skirt and t-shirt but whatever.
Oh, but we weren't done. Sunday night a church was having swing dancing lessons. No 70's dress required. So a group of us went to that too. I have to say...I am a swing dancing maniac. Setnick and I were doing things that they hadn't even taught yet. Hidden talent? Maybe not, but we still had a lot of fun. There was a guy there who had done lots of swing dancing before and he totally flipped us all over the place. It was awesome! I wonder how many calories I burned this weekend. And the great thing is, it's not over. There are a few more swing dancing lessons in the next month! Colored me excited.

Amy and Ethan attempting a lift. Setnick's comment? It looks like he just caught a mannequin.
I know it's been awhile since I've posted but I'm a busy girl, I can't always update you guys on my life. I talk like there are hundreds of people rushing to my site each day to see if I've updated. Sometimes I enjoy this little world that I live in. Anyway, though I'm not going to post something long and drawn out, I thought you might enjoy watching a video that I just did with some friends. This is why I am so "busy".
This verse really spoke to me in my quiet time. In this chapter it starts off saying how those that fear/revere the Lord are happy. Verse 7 says (paraphrased) that those people do not fear bad news because they are confident in the Lord's care for them. Wow. Can you imagine not ever fearing what bad news may come your way because you trust in the unfailing love and care of God? What a great thought. I want to reach that place.
What better way to ring in the New Year then to set the auto timer on my camera and attempt to catch a photo flying through the air? It really captures the excitement over the holiday. At least I think so. Around midnight, I pulled Evan aside and asked him to particpate.
Attempt one. Not a huge success. Although we do look excited.
Hannah decided to join. It's harder than it looks. You never really know when it's going off.
Then Leah decides to interrupt. Yes, I fell.
Not one for feeling left out, the last Hampton child joins in.
Oh so close...and I love Todd's bunny interpretation.
FINALLY! Only it looks like I gave myself a male body part by positioning my foot in such a way. I demanded a re-do.
So, technically my feet are off the ground, you just can't see. Just ask my friendly dog there.
I hope all your New Year's celebrations were as exciting.
So, as you know, I am going to be overseas working in missions at some point. Only God knows when that will be. Still, there are some dedicated people who support me monthly and continue to do so, even though I'm not overseas yet. I wanted to do something special for them for Christmas so I made some bookmarks. I do live on a budget afterall. But, I did handmake them all and the designs came straight from my demented little brain. After I finished, I decided that I want to keep them all. Sadly, I couldn't justify doing so and really, what would I do with all those bookmarks? Since I've been slacking in the xanga department, I thought I'd post photos of the bookmarks which would mean POSTING TWO DAYS IN A ROW! Amazing, I know. So, tell me what you think.
